Lorenzo Styles Jr. showed that athleticism runs in the genes by clocking the fastest 40-yard dash time for a defensive player at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine.

On Thursday, when the linebackers were being tested, Sonny wowed fans as he began his workout with an 11’2” broad jump, which placed him tied-fourth all-time among linebackers. Then, he posted a 43.5” vertical, which is the best all-time score for a linebacker at the NFL Combine.

Despite taking a tumble in a drill, the 21-year-old, who is 6’4” and weighs 243 pounds, also showcased the remarkable speeds he can hit by posting a best 40-yard dash time of 4.46 seconds. Just a day after his brother kicked off the Combine in Indianapolis with a stunning showcase, Lorenzo proved he belonged on the biggest stage, too.

On Friday, the defensive back Styles ran a 4.27-second 40-yard dash. His stunning time made him the first-ever Buckeye to break 4.3 seconds in the 40 at the Combine.

Styles’ time made him the fastest defensive player at the Combine, as well as tied for the fourth-fastest time among defensive backs in the event’s history. Naturally, fans were in awe of the Styles duo’s athleticism.

“4.28?! That family got track genes, league better be ready,” one fan posted. Another wrote: “The Styles family are A1 blue chip Athletes omg.”

“Speed like that at safety is game-changing. NFL teams must be salivating,” added another. Ultimately, Styles was unable to put together a day quite like his brother’s as he dropped a ball in coverage, but his performance was still impressive and undoubtedly boosted his stock.

“He really just needs refinement on coverage skills, but, like his brother, he's an HELL of an athlete,” wrote another fan. One then quipped: “Is their dad the flash or something?”

He wasn’t the Flash, but Lorenzo Styles Sr. played six seasons in the NFL for the Atlanta Falcons and St. Louis Rams. He won Super Bowl XXXIV with the Rams, whose ‘Greatest Show on Turf’ — piloted by Kurt Warner — defeated the Tennessee Titans. Styles' mom was in attendance in Indy for his impressive showing.

“Dear lord. Papa Styles should have had 5 more kids,” one fan posted upon learning. “Insane genetics in that family.”

Elsewhere, Kenyon Sadiq, who was already considered the top tight end prospect on offer in the class, delivered on the hype during his workout once the defensive backs cleared the way. He posted a 4.39-second 40-yard dash, which led to gasps and cheers around Lucas Oil Stadium as the 20-year-old set the modern record for his position.

The previous tight end record for the 40-yard dash was set by Vernon Davis back in 2006, when the San Francisco 49ers great ran the drill in 4.40 seconds. Sadiq, who also posted a 43.5-inch vertical, was less than a year old at the time.

Per NextGen Stats, Sadiq reached a maximum speed of 23.24 mph on his 40-yard dash, which is the exact same top speed that Detroit Lions phenom Jahmyr Gibbs ran when he posted a 4.36-second 40 time in 2023. The Oregon standout has surely cemented his place in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft come April.
