Depot After Dark: Beck Praises Rodgers, Mel Blount’s Son Coaching, See Batch At Football Town…

A Steelers Depot daily segment. A quick hit of some Pittsburgh Steelers-related stories that may not require a complete article but nuggets worth mentioning and passing on to you guys.

Your Depot After Dark for Feb. 27.

BECK PRAISES RODGERS

People’s opinions are mixed on Aaron Rodgers. While he’s one of the most talented quarterbacks to ever play in the NFL, he’s also not afraid to speak his mind, and his level of play has dropped in recent years. However, Miami Hurricanes quarterback Carson Beck still has a high opinion of Rodgers.

Appearing on CBS Sports’ YouTube channel, Beck was asked to name his Mount Rushmore of quarterbacks. That consists of his top four quarterbacks of all time, and he put Rodgers on that list. The other three quarterbacks were Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Pittsburgh-native Dan Marino. Rodgers is the only one who hasn’t retired yet, and we’ll see if he adds to his legacy this year.

MEL BLOUNT’S SON COACHING

Mel Blount is one of the best players in Steelers history. He played corner with a different level of physicality, and that forced the NFL to change the rules. Still, Blount continued to dominate, eventually landing in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. While Blount has been retired for a while, his son is still involved with football in Pittsburgh.

JJ Kitchen posted a video on Twitter of Khalid Blount demonstrating some workouts. The younger Blount joined the University of Pittsburgh as an assistant strength and conditioning coach last year. It certainly looks like he’s inherited some of his dad’s genes.

SEE BATCH AT FOOTBALL TOWN PREMIERE

The Football Town, a documentary centered on Pittsburgh’s connection with football, will soon premiere. It will feature several Steelers legends and should be an enjoyable watch for people from Pittsburgh. It’s set to come out Saturday at the Kamin Science Center. Those who can attend could run into a former Steelers quarterback, too.

Kamin Science Center shared on Twitter that former Steelers quarterback Charlie Batch will be at the 10:30 a.m. and noon showing on Saturday. Batch was with the Steelers from 2002 to 2012, mostly serving as a backup. He was reliable, though, and he’s still involved with the community today.
