Barcelona could prove an obstacle for Chelsea and Tottenham as they court a potential summer transfer target.

Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea continue to be linked with a transfer move for Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic this summer in what would be a marquee signing for either Premier League side.

The 26-year-old has been prolific in the Serie A with 90 goals in 215 outings in the Italian league. The striker’s current season has been hampered by an abductor injury, but he had bagged six goals in 17 appearances prior to that injury.

Vlahovic is out of contract with Juventus this summer and a free transfer away from the club appears likely. TeamTALK reports that the Serie A outfit have planned fresh contract renewal negotiations for next month but the Serbian is well aware of interest in his services from teams across the continent.

The report adds that the striker’s lofty salary demands are proving a problem from the Bianconeri. Vlahovic is believed to be earning around £10.5 million per season and that is not viewed as a sustainable long-term investment for Juventus.

Negotiations are said to have stalled ‘repeatedly’ but that the player does still have a positive relationship with the club and his teammates. Vlahovic is known to be keen on a move to the Premier League but could put that on pause should La Liga giants Barcelona show interest.

Chelsea and Tottenham ‘monitoring’ Juventus striker Vlahovic

TeamTALK adds that Vlahovic has told his agent to prioritise talks with Barcelona as he fancies becoming the long term successor for Robert Lewandowski. However, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are also known to be ‘monitoring the situation closely’.

The London clubs view Vlahovic as an obvious upgrade to current attacking options. Randal Kolo Muani is only on loan at Spurs with Dominic Solanke’s injury problems preventing him from being a regular option.

Meanwhile, Chelsea striker Liam Delap continues to be linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge, despite having only arrived last summer. Joao Pedro is in fine form under Liam Rosenior but the Blues could remain short of striking options should Delap leave this summer.
