**Chelsea legend Marcel Desailly thinks the Blues should contemplate bringing ex-Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez back to England.**
The Uruguayan was offloaded to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal in August for €53m (£46m), but Desailly thinks he has unfinished business in the Premier League:
“A club like Chelsea, or the new Manchester United, would be best for him. He needs to be surrounded by established, confident players who know they’re going to play every weekend and who will give him the ball on the first intention.”
“That’s the small detail – when he makes a run, he needs to get the ball immediately. Otherwise, he loses confidence quickly. I would actually recommend Nunez for Chelsea. He’s a very good player, a smart player he just needs the right environment to perform.”
Nunez is expected to leave Al-Hilal
-----------------------------------
The arrival of Karim Benzema in January has meant that Nunez is not registered to play in the Saudi Pro League for the second half of the season, although he can still be used in the AFC Champions League.
It does appear as if Al-Hilal would be open to selling the 26-year-old this summer if they receive the right kind of offer.
Chelsea may be looking for another new no.9.
--------------------------------------------
While Joao Pedro’s form since his move from Brighton last year has been impressive, fellow summer recruit Liam Delap has been a major disappointment, having scored just two goals in all competitions.
When you consider that [**Marc Guiu’s future is also up in the air**](https://chelseanews.com/blog/chelsea-transfer-news-marc-guiu/), and the fact that Nicolas Jackson is likely to be sold following his loan spell at Bayern Munich, there will be an opening for a new striker. Based on the difficulties he had during his three years at Liverpool, though, it seems unlikely that the Blues would see Nunez as a genuine option.
