**West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen says there has been a notable “change” in the attitude of the players over “the last few weeks”.**
With the club seemingly in dire straits at the [**bottom of the table**](https://hammersheadlines.com/west-ham-news-john-terry-relegation-prediction/), it would have been easy for teammates to turn on each other, considering the problems they have faced, but Bowen has revealed that players are taking responsibility for their actions rather than passing on the blame to others:
“We’ve all got to continue stepping up, that’s the situation that we find ourselves in. We know outside noise happens, and I think it’s individually, for one, how you deal with that, but certainly as a group we can take criticism from each other and I think it’s an important time to be criticising each other.”
“In the situation that we’re in, we need everyone pointing fingers and people to accept that responsibility, which we’re doing. I think we’ve seen a change certainly in the last few weeks.”
“It’s not easy, don’t get me wrong. It’s not easy, and that’s not an excuse, because this is where we find ourselves from what we’ve done at the start of the season, so now we have to fight our way out of it, and we’ve certainly got enough, not just talking about quality, but talking about characters and people who are grabbing each other by the scruff of the neck when times are tough.”
“It needs to be like that, and that’s certainly a pleasing thing in a changing room, when you can look at your teammate next to you and go, yeah, he’s got my back and I’ve got his back.”
West Ham’s form shows the team’s togetherness
---------------------------------------------
Having looked destined for relegation after their woeful defeats to Wolves and Nottingham Forest at the start of January, the Hammers have only lost once in all competitions since then.
They have won three, drawn two and lost one of their last six Premier League fixtures, whilst also successfully negotiating two rounds of the FA Cup. Even in that one defeat at Chelsea, they allowed a 2-0 goal lead to slip.
The next 4 fixtures
-------------------
West Ham are only two points off safety heading into gameweek 28, and they have some big matches coming up over the next month or so.
After they face Liverpool this weekend, they travel to Fulham before hosting Manchester City at the London Stadium. They also play Aston Villa away prior to the next international break.
