Official: Barcelona sign teenage Spanish attacking prospect

FC Barcelona have officially announced the signing of winger Alex Gonzalez from CF Damm, with the teenager set to become a part of the club’s Juvenil A setup.

“Agreement for the incorporation of the player Alex Gonzalez to the Juvenil A team of Barça from CF Damm,” the statement from the club read on social media, along with images of the youngster signing his contract.

The whole process was completed earlier today in the presence of Jose Ramon Alexanco, the director of youth football for Barcelona.

While there is no mention of it in the statement, reports suggest that Barcelona will pay only a symbolic fee related to training compensation for the 19-year-old starlet’s signing.

In 22 appearances this season, Gonzalez has scored 12 goals, which is a solid return for a wide player.

Gonzalez is seen as a speedy, direct and fearless left winger. His explosiveness over the first few metres makes him difficult to contain, especially in 1v1 situations.

The signing of Gonzalez continues Barcelona’s recent trend of identifying and recruiting youth talents with potential – such as Juwensley Onstein, Ajay Tavares, and Patricio Pacifico, among others.

He now joins La Masia hoping to develop into the next player to break into the Barcelona first-team setup in the coming years.
