Pedro Neto gives brilliant response to the 'pressure' from Chelsea supporters

Pedro Neto has insisted that the ‘pressure’ of high expectations is simply part of the fabric at Chelsea, claiming the squad must embrace the demand to be champions.

The Chelsea supporters have grown tired of a couple of players on occasions and one of those is Pedro Neto.

He’s scored 10 goals and assisted five times, which on paper is a brilliant return. However, he has had his fair share of sloppy games, including when Neto set a record for eight uncompleted crosses in a game.

And while he’s certainly a quality winger, Roberto Martinez went viral for having none of the comparisons between Neto and Chelsea legend Eden Hazard.

So, with fans getting on his back at times, Neto has addressed the ‘pressure’.

Pedro Neto says he thrives off the pressure at Chelsea

Pedro Neto is the latest player to speak to Chelsea this week, where he touched on the pressure of playing at Stamford Bridge.

“When you play here, you have a lot of expectations, like if you can be champion or not, if you can make the Champions League or not, and if you don’t do it, the pressure is a lot. It’s good pressure and you only get affected by that if you let it, but it’s the standards of this club.

“I came to this club to win trophies as we did in my first season. It was an unbelievable first season for me. The second one, we have a long way to go, we have a lot to fight for. So the expectations are really big. Of course, we have the expectation to do better every year.

“To be at a top club, the responsibility is bigger as well.

“There is more motivation as well, of course. When you learn what it is to win trophies, you just want to win more and more, because the sensation that you have is unbelievable.

“That is why you play the game. The feeling that I had when I won for this club was unbelievable. I want to feel it again.”

The improvements Pedro Neto can make at Chelsea

While Pedro Neto has been a standout performer, there’s a belief that there is still a higher ceiling for the Portuguese winger. His primary area for improvement lies in his final-third decision-making and crossing accuracy, which has dipped below 20% this season.

Additionally, following Neto’s recent hat-trick in a central role against Hull City, there is growing belief that mastering this number 10 versatility could unlock a more consistent version of Neto.

It would also provide Chelsea with some much-needed cover for Cole Palmer.
