Maxx Crosby trade rumor gives Cowboys, Eagles, Patriots update on star's availability

One of the hottest topics of conversations this offseason is the future of Maxx Crosby with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Most of the rumors surrounding Crosby have at least hinted a trade is possible, with one of them coming from Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio that named the Raiders' asking price, which is two first-round picks and a player.

However, Q Myers of the Locked on Raiders podcast shared a nugget on Crosby that goes in the opposite direction.

Myers said he spoke with an NFL insider he did not name and that insider told him he's hearing from people inside the Raiders' building that the issues between the Raiders and Crosby are "just going to blow over" and he'll stay with the team.

“I was talking to an NFL insider on Wednesday about the Maxx Crosby situation. I said, ‘What are you thinking? What are you hearing?’ And he told me straight up that the sense that he got from talking to people inside the Raiders building… he said that the sense he got is that this whole Maxx Crosby thing was just going to blow over,” Myers shared.

“That could be for multiple reasons. One, it’s going to blow over because they really want him to be a Raider, which is what I believe, that they truly do want him to be a Raider," Myers added. "And I think in his heart of hearts, he wants to be a Raider as well. Two, they’re not getting the kind of response that they were hoping to get as far as, you know, a lot of draft capital in return or a big return on investment when it comes to Maxx Crosby.”

“So the sense that this guy got was that the Raiders as an organization feels like this is all going to blow over and Maxx Crosby will be a Raider in 2026, which is basically on par with what I’ve been saying the whole time,” he concluded.

Is Maxx Crosby mad at the Raiders?

Crosby's latest frustration with the franchise came near the end of last season when the team decided to shut him down early against his will because of a knee injury.

But that is hardly the biggest reason why Crosby is frustrated.

The biggest issue for the five-time Pro Bowler is the Raiders have been a losing and disgruntled mess for years now and Crosby wants to win.

If he does request a trade, that will be the reason why.

Bad news for Cowboys, Eagles, Patriots

If Crosby stays in Las Vegas, it'll be bad news for the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots, all of whom figure to be suitors for the star edge rusher if he becomes available via trade.

The Cowboys' defense needs a major overhaul and that includes adding an impact edge rusher like Crosby. Dallas is armed with three first-round picks over the next two years and stand as one of the most well-equipped teams to trade for him, assuming they can clear the cap space to fit Crosby's contract.

We also know the Cowboys were reportedly interested in trading for Crosby at last year's deadline

In Philadelphia, the future of Jaelan Phillips remains up in the air as he prepares to hit free agency in less than two weeks. Even if Phillips returns to the team, Philly needs to bring in more help and we could easily see general manager Howie Roseman swinging this kind of blockbuster trade for Crosby.

As for the Patriots, they have one good edge rusher in Harold Landry, but his 2025 running mate, K'Lavon Chaisson, is a pending free agent. With Super Bowl aspirations, the Pats should be aiming higher than just re-signing Chaisson.

The Patriots' edge over other suitors could come because of Mike Vrabel, as Crosby reportedly would like to play for the New England head coach.

While we'd expect those three teams to be interested, there figures to be a lot more. In fact, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that upwards of 20 teams could make an offer for Crosby if he hits the trade block.
