The Dallas Cowboys re-signed Javonte Williams to a three-year, $24 million contract with $16 million guaranteed, but that doesn't mean they aren't still in the market for another running back.
Williams, 25, is fresh off a 1,201-yard, 11-touchdown year - the first 1,000-yard season of his career - and he's in line to be Dallas' lead back for the next handful of years.
But that hasn't stopped the draft gurus from linking the Cowboys to Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love, who's widely regarded as the best tailback in the 2026 draft class.
Love was asked by reporters on Friday at the combine if he had spoken with "America's Team" since he got to Indianapolis.
"Who is that?" Love asked.
A reporter clarified he meant the Cowboys, to which Love couldn't recall whether or not he spoke with them before admitting that his father was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan who didn't like Dallas.
Then the awkward part of the interview came when Love was asked, "What it would be like wearing the star on your helmet?" After an uncomfortable moment of silence, Love finally replied.
"Um, I mean…[expletive]," Love said as he clumsily tried to find the correct response before quickly trying to change the subject. "I'm just blessed to go anywhere. It'd be an honor to wear the star or any other team as well."
Judging from Love's reaction, it appeared Dallas wasn't high on the list of teams he hopes draft him. The Kansas City Chiefs, however, presumably are.
"I am from St. Louis, so I'd be close to home," Love stated when asked about potentially being drafted by Kansas City. "Especially playing with Patrick Mahomes. I feel like he's the best quarterback right now, the best in the league - top one - so it'd be an honor to play with him."
The Cowboys pick 12th in April's draft, and there's a possibility Love is off the board before Dallas is even on the clock - the Washington Commanders, New Orleans Saints, and Chiefs could all grab Love in the three picks before the Cowboys.
