Paris Saint-Germain have successfully postponed their Ligue 1 home game against FC Nantes. The Ligue de Football Professionnel confirmed the news on Friday when they released the full schedule for Matchday 26. Les Parisiens asked for the delay so they could get more rest and prepare for their UEFA Champions League round-of-16 clashes against Chelsea. The league body agreed to their request after Nantes agreed to the new date.
The Parisians will host Liam Rosenior’s Chelsea on Wednesday, March 11, and then travel to Stamford Bridge for the second leg on Tuesday, March 17. The Ligue 1 game against Nantes, who are fighting to stay in the league, was scheduled for the weekend between these two important European games. It has now been moved to the third week of April. This choice gives Luis Enrique’s team important time to rest between their European games, which could give them an edge over their Premier League opponents.
Luis Enrique spoke at a press conference about what is sure to be a big match and said he was happy with the draw. The PSG coach said they would not be seeking revenge for their loss in the Club World Cup final earlier this year.
“Chelsea, it’s a fascinating draw, as always. I’m very pleased. It’ll be exciting to play against an English team, but there’s no sense of revenge. These are different competitions.”
Chelsea will play Newcastle at Stamford Bridge on March 14 at 5:30 p.m., just three days before the second leg. The Blues have a lot of games to play during this period, and have less than 72 hours to recover before the season-defining return leg in London.
How Chelsea Performed Against PSG In The Club World Cup
On July 13, 2025, Chelsea beat Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium to win the Club World Cup final. Cole Palmer put on a great show in the first half, scoring twice in the 22nd and 30th minutes. João Pedro scored a third goal in the 43rd minute to finish off the Blues’ strong first half.
The win gave Chelsea their second FIFA Club World Cup title in front of 81,118 fans at the Meadowlands Sports Complex. Enzo Maresca, the then-manager, delivered a tactical masterclass with a high-pressing approach that gave PSG a lot of trouble.
PSG ended the game with 10 players as João Neves got a straight red card in the 85th minute. The emphatic win was a huge upset because the European champions were heavy favourites going into the final.
