The Oklahoma City Thunder have been plagued with injuries as of late, missing both Jalen Williams and Ajay Mitchell for an extended period.
Last year's MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander returned from injury, just in time as the Thunder were able to outlast Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets in overtime Friday night.
In what ended as a six-point victory, the recently acquired Jared McCain proved to be a key factor.
McCain was Oklahoma City's third-highest scorer despite coming off the bench, scoring 14 points on an efficient 6-for-8 from the field.
McCain also added two rebounds, one assist and one steal in a total of 19 minutes played.
Following the game, McCain received plenty of praise from his teammates including last year's MVP.
"He was great tonight. There was a spurt in the game where he kept us afloat, scoring wise. Great shooting touch. He's going to continue get better the more he's in our system. Kid's really talented at basketball," said Gilgeous-Alexander.
Chet Holmgren echoed the same sentiment. "He's been great since he's been here. He was big for us tonight. We're happy to have him."
In nine games with the Thunder since being acquired, McCain is averaging 11.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 0.7 steals.
This is an increase from his numbers with the Philadelphia 76ers in the first half of the year, where he averaged 6.6 points and two rebounds in 37 games.
McCain and the Thunder will have Saturday off before their next matchup on the road against the Dallas Mavericks.
