The Reds have been dealt some bad luck with injurie this season.

Any consistency or momentum is football is built when a manager is able to rely on the same team week in eek out.

That allows the players to understand each other better, as practice always makes perfect.

Arne Slot has been unable to do that all throughout the campaign, as players who would see as key players have missed out on large amounts of action.

Alexander Isak took months to get to full fitness and then when he did he suffered a leg fracture that has ruled him out since early December.

Another Liverpool signing Jeremie Frimpong has seen an extended period of time on the sidelines as a recurring hamstring injury has hampered his debut season on Merseyside.

An ever-reliable player who had been avoiding injury since arriving at the club in 2023 was Wataru Endo.

However, when playing against Sunderland a fortnight ago, the Japanese international suffered a significant leg injury and it has now been confirmed by Japan manager Hajime Moriyasu that Wataru Endo has had surgery on that injury in Japan.

Speaking to Sponichi, Moriyasu said:

“I’ve heard he underwent surgery. I’ve heard that it went well. The plan is for him to be ready for the World Cup, and we are considering the process of rehabilitation after surgery.”

“We don’t know what will happen once surgery is performed, but the fact that he needs to play in the World Cup is something that he, the club, and we all understand and share.”
