Ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft in April, Notre Dame Fighting Irish star running back Jeremiyah Love has been overwhelmingly viewed as a top-10 pick.

Love, who has been the workhorse star of the Notre Dame offense over the last couple of years, has played at a Heisman Trophy level. He will offer an NFL team the opportunity to draft a long-term franchise running back.

Throughout the course of the 2025 college football season, Love put on a show with the Fighting Irish. He carried the football 199 times for 1,372 yards and 18 touchdowns, averaging an impressive 6.9 yards per carry. In addition, Love caught 27 passes for 280 yards and three more scores.

With the NFL Combine going on right now in Indianapolis, Love has been answering questions from the media. During one of his media sessions, he spoke out and revealed his pick for best quarterback in the NFL.

Love made his comments during an appearance on the “Rich Eisen Show,” where he revealed that Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes is his pick.

He was specifically asked if he would like to play for the Chiefs. That is when he made his feelings on Mahomes perfectly clear.

“Yes, yes, I would be,” Love said. “Especially playing with Patrick Mahomes. I feel like he’s the best quarterback as of right now. Best in the league. I feel like he’s top one. So it would be an honor to play with him.”

“I’d be close to home. … I feel like [Patrick Mahomes] is the best quarterback as of right now. … It would be an honor to play with him.”

Adding Love would be exactly what the doctor ordered for Kansas City’s offense. Mahomes and company struggled throughout the 2025 NFL season and he is also recovering from a torn ACL that he suffered late in the season.

Being able to have a consistently dangerous ground game would help the Chiefs in a big way.

Kansas City Chiefs Would Be Perfect Fit for Jeremiyah Love

Heading into his NFL career, Love will be more than capable of handling a starting job as a rookie. For Kansas City, that could be a huge boost.

In 2025, the Chiefs had a very inconsistent rushing attack. They had both Kareem Hunt and Isiah Pacheco leading the way in the backfield, with Hunt being their leading rusher with 611 yards and eight touchdowns on 163 carries.

Hunt averaged 3.7 yards per carry, while Pacheco averaged 3.9.

Love should be able to come in and beat out the production that both of those running backs gave Kansas City. With the Chiefs holding the No. 9 overall pick, there is a very strong chance that they could choose to select Love.

Only time will tell whether or not Kansas City will choose to bring in a new running back to support Mahomes, but it is very clear that Love would like that opportunity.
