Packers Decline to Tender Emanuel Wilson: Free Agency Awaits After Solid 2025 Campaign

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Packers are not placing a tender on restricted free agent running back Emanuel Wilson, making the 26-year-old an unrestricted free agent when the new league year begins. Wilson, who joined Green Bay as an un-drafted free agent in 2023, contributed significantly to the team’s rushing attack last season.

In 2025, Wilson rushed for 496 yards and three touchdowns on 104 carries (4.8 yards per attempt), providing valuable depth behind starter Josh Jacobs. He also added 15 receptions for 99 yards. His performance helped the Packers maintain a balanced offense despite injuries.

Green Bay Packers running back Emanuel Wilson (31) hurdles San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw (57) in the fourth quarter during their NFC divisional playoff football game Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Emanuel Wilson’s NFL Journey & 2026 Outlook

Un-drafted out of Fort Valley State, Wilson has appeared in 41 games over three seasons, all with Green Bay. His 2025 breakout showed reliable vision, burst, and receiving skills, making him an attractive option for teams needing RB depth. At 26, he enters free agency with low mileage (242 career carries) and upside as a rotational back or special teams contributor.

Potential landing spots include run-heavy teams like the Baltimore Ravens, Pittsburgh Steelers, or even a return to the NFC North with the Minnesota Vikings or Chicago Bears.

The Packers now turn their focus to the draft and free agency to bolster the backfield, with questions lingering about Jacobs’ long-term fit amid cap constraints.
