Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink gives honest verdict on Liam Rosenior as Chelsea manager

Chelsea legend Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has admitted that he has been impressed with how Liam Rosenior has dealt with the pressures of becoming the club’s new manager.

It did not take long for criticism to come Rosenior’s way when he got the job, with some corners of the Chelsea fanbase looking for a more experienced figure to replace Enzo Maresca.

The new manager’s tactics have come into question at times, but so far the only side to beat him since he took over his Arsenal, the next side they face in the Premier League.

No Enzo Fernandez in our Starting XI!

What do you think, Blues?

Of the back of two disappointing league results, Hasselbaink still has full faith in Rosenior, telling Discovery+ that he has been impressed with how the boss has carried himself in his new role.

He said: “He’s done brilliant up to now. He gives you a proper answer and he knows that at Chelsea that the shirt is heavy and you need to win games. He’s not afraid of changing things and he believes in what he has to do.”

Hasselbaink has previously stated that he believes Rosenior has the backing off the owners, something that previous manager Maresca would believe he wasn’t getting from the club.

Since taking over at Stamford Bridge, Rosenior has helped lead the Blues to a top-eight finish in the Champions League, something that didn’t always look a possibility.

They have been rewarded with a Round of 16 tie against PSG, a side he has plenty of experience facing during his time in charge of Strasbourg.

The Premier League form is the most immediate thing the boss needs to address, with them falling dangerously close to dropping out of the top five.

Rosenior has let his angry side be shown after the last two uninspiring draws, and throwing away points from winning positions is something that needs to be taken care of before it derails their whole campaign.
