Arsenal eyeing move to sign absolutely rapid ace to replace £50m star this summer - report

Arsenal are eyeing a move to sign Sporting CP sensation Ivan Fresneda this summer amid strong interest in Ben White, according to Caught Offside.

The Gunners have had a remarkable campaign so far, with Mikel Arteta able to call upon one of the best squads in Europe for different situations, with several options for each position depending on the scenario.

Jurrien Timber and William Saliba have solidified their places as regular starters on the right-hand side of the defence at the Emirates Stadium, and that has seen limited opportunities for ex-England international White, which has opened the door for a potential summer exit.

Arsenal Eyeing Ben White Replacement

White, who signed for the Gunners for £50m from Brighton back in 2021, has suffered with a number of injury problems so far in this campaign, which has restricted him to just 19 appearances in all competitions, with just five starts in the Premier League.

As a result, the 28-year-old is now being looked at by a number of European clubs, and Arsenal are said to be open to doing a deal to let him move on for a fee in the region of £30m. White is not currently pushing for a move, with his attentions solely focused on the rest of the season.

However, Arsenal are already making plans to replace him should he move on, and Sporting CP star Fresneda has emerged as a top target for the north London club.

Arsenal have had a long-term interest in the Spaniard, who is one of the fastest players in the Champions League, and they view him as the perfect profile to come in at right-back and provide competition for Timber.

The 21-year-old does not have Premier League experience which could work against him initially, but Sporting aren't expected to stand in his way if an acceptable offer arrives, which could make it an easier deal for Arsenal to do.

Fresneda a Good Fit for Arsenal?

Fresneda has been a highly-rated prospect for a number of seasons now, but he hasn't kicked on at Sporting the way many expected him to.

A move to Arsenal would be a big step up, and GIVEMESPORT asked ChatGPT if he would be a good replacement for White, and this was its response:

Young, modern right-back with strong defensive positioning & attacking instincts.

Good pace, stamina, ball progression and crossing potential.

Less experienced at elite level than White and may need time to adapt.

Could be a long-term upgrade but not a like-for-like immediate replacement.
