49ers linked to 13,000-yard future Hall of Fame WR as 'perfect' free agent target

The San Francisco 49ers are in the market for two main positions this offseason in free agency, the draft, and in trade talks. Those positions are pass rusher, rusher, and wide receiver.

While the pass rush needs a huge boost, the wide receiver room is severely depleted coming out of 2025. Brandon Aiyuk is almost certainly being cut, and Jauan Jennings is a free agent. The 49ers need to add a receiver in some capacity this offseason.

Fortunately for the 49ers, according to Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report, their "perfect" free agent target is a 13,000-yard, future Hall of Fame receiver in Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Mike Evan.

49ers 'perfect' free agent target is Buccaneers Mike Evans

"If Mike Evans is going to suit up for anyone other than the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it's likely to be a Super Bowl contender," Ballentine writes. "The 49ers can be a championship team if they can stay healthy and Brock Purdy has receivers to throw to."

The 49ers going out and adding Evans to the offense would be an incredible move to make this offseason. Having Evans, along with Ricky Pearsall and George Kittle, next year would make for a very fun receiver room.

They need more than one wide receiver addition this offseason, but Evans, a 6-foot-5, 231-pound 12-year veteran, would be a fantastic addition.

Last season, Evans dealt with an injury that forced him to miss most of the season. He played in just eight games, recording 368 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 30 receptions.

More: 49ers' Brandon Aiyuk needs a change of scenery more than any player in NFL

It was the first time in his 12-year NFL career that he didn't reach 1,000 yards in a season. Across his career, Evans has 13,052 receiving yards, 108 touchdowns, and 866 receptions on 1,493 targets.

Adding such a dominant red zone threat would be much more than a great replacement for Jennings in the 49ers offense; it would give Purdy and Kyle Shanahan a true star receiver to target next season.

Evans is a five-time Pro Bowler and a two-time second-team All-Pro recipient. While he's not been the best receiver in the NFL at any time during his career, his consistency at such a high level for so long makes him a very appealing free agent.

Ballentine named Evans, the top receiver free agent this offseason, who could be on his way to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, as the 49ers' "perfect" free agent target this offseason.
