Today marked the first occasion of something never carried out at the stadium before.
Liverpool put in a rampant display this afternoon as they thrashed West Ham United at Anfield.
The Reds surged into a three-goal lead before the break thanks to three set-piece goals from Hugo Ekitike, Virgil van Dijk and Alexis Mac Allister.
Cody Gakpo scored the home side’s fourth and West Ham’s woes deepened as Hammers defender Axel Disasi directed the ball into his own net to complete the Anfield rout.
The win provides Liverpool with a real fighting chance of qualifying for Champions League qualification next season with the three points propelling them into fifth place, level on points with Manchester United in fourth.
The Red Devils face Crystal Palace at Old Trafford tomorrow, whilst sixth-placed Arsenal head to the Emirates for a clash with the league-leaders Arsenal.
Whilst the club is predominantly known for the football they play on the pitch, it is often forgotten just how much work they do off it.
Today arked a historic occasion that showed awareness for death people who often can’t soak in the iconic ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ like the rest of us.
As the anthem rang out across the ground, for the first time in the Premier League, it was not only sung but also signed.
Carlsberg and Liverpool FC, alongside the British Deaf Association taught the fans to perform “You’ll Never Walk Alone” in British Sign Language before the game.
As per Sky Sports: “It is part of the club’s Red Together Unity Campaign to enable death and hard of hearing fans to share in the moment that is synonymous with the club and is famous worldwide.”
“Going forward, British sign language interpreters will be present at every Liverpool men’s and women’s home fixture to translate pre-match announcements and indeed ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone.”
A brilliant touch from the club, reinforcing the community feel that the club loves to create where everyone should feel welcomed and included at Anfield.
