Don’t worry Chelsea fans – Liam Rosenior has already outclassed PSG at Strasbourg

Chelsea are set to take on PSG in the Champions League Round of 16, a side new manager Liam Rosenior has already got the better of the Ligue 1 side from his time at Strasbourg.

The Blues have plenty of recent history with the current Champions League holders. They destroyed them 3-0 in the Club World Cup final, shocking those who made predictions for the game.

It was Enzo Maresca in charge for that game, but Rosenior has come up against the French giants on a number of occasions during his time at fellow BlueCo club, Strasbourg.

Liam Rosenior has already outclassed PSG when he was at Strasbourg

One of the biggest victories of his time in charge of the Ligue 1 side was in May 2025, when Rosenior was looking to lead Strasbourg to just their second European qualification in 20 years.

PSG did rotate their side, but their opponents did a job on them with a classic smash-and-grab performance. They scored twice from just two shots on target in a 2-1 win.

Similar to how Chelsea got in an unassailable position in the first half of the Club World Cup final, Strasbourg were in a 2-0 lead at half-time, despite possession being dominated by their opponents.

Bradley Barcola pulled one back just after half-time, and a number of big names, including Desire Doue came on as PSG looked to get back level.

They were unable to do so however, and the victory helped Strasbourg on their way to securing a place in the 2025/26 Conference League.

This European campaign has been very successful so far for the Ligue 1 side. They topped the groups and beat favourites Crystal Palace at home.

Chelsea have the quality in their squad to mean that Rosenior will not have to set up his side to be backs against the wall the whole time, although has shown he knows how to nullify the devastating PSG attack already, something that will be crucial across two legs.
