It may not be perfect, but Liverpool beat West Ham to make it four wins in a row, with their new-look squad finally starting to gel.
After beating Nottingham Forest last week, the Reds knew that victory on February 28 would, for the time being, move them into the Champions League places.
When all was said and done, Liverpool beat West Ham United 5-2 to go above Chelsea and level on points with fourth-place Manchester United, who play Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Alexis Mac Allister says new-look Liverpool squad has gelled
That has been a rarity this season, especially when you consider the fact Liverpool endured a run of nine defeats in 12 across all competitions in the first half of 2025/26 and failed to win their opening five league matches of 2026.
However, speaking to the BBC post-West Ham, Alexis Mac Allister has explained the recent upturn, suggesting it is partly down to the squad forming a better understanding with one another.
He said: “Now that we spend some time together, things are easier for us, we understand each other. The last four or five months is when teams show what they can do.

“That’s what we want. We know how important it is to qualify for the Champions League for the club and us as a team. The goal is there and we are going to do everything to qualify and be closer to the teams on top.”

Liverpool spent £450m on new players in the summer and let a number of previously key stars like Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez leave.
All of their summer signings, barring the injured Alexander Isak, have started to impress more and more as the season has gone on.
Meanwhile, Mac Allister himself has experienced an upturn on the goal front, scoring against West Ham to add his second league goal in as many matches after blanking for 25 games in a row.
On his newfound goalscoring form, he said: “I really like it, I really like getting in the box and scoring goals. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn’t. Happy because I can help the team and at the same time I can gain some confidence.”
