Chloe Kim, the two-time Olympic gold medalist and girlfriend of Cleveland Browns superstar Myles Garrett, took to social media on Friday to announce she’s shutting down her direct messages due to bad actors online.

Kim has been in the spotlight since the Winter Olympics, where she was a top contender for the gold medal in women’s snowboard halfpipe. Her relationship with Garrett has also been on full display, with the Browns’ pass-rusher making his way to Italy to support her.

Kim has enjoyed connecting with fans on social media, but announced on her Instagram stories that she would be taking a break from receiving direct messages.

“Hello hello! Happy Friday! I unfortunately had to turn off my DMs due to people taking things too far. I’ve seen too many fake and very disturbing images/videos and I need to protect myself,” Kim said. “Hopefully with some time we’ll be back! I really do enjoy connecting with you all. Much love.”

Chloe Kim Addresses Proposal Image With Browns Star Myles Garrett

Shortly after the Games concluded, an AI-generated image of Garrett appearing to propose to Kim went viral on social media. It fooled thousands of fans — including fellow Olympian Lindsey Vonn, who texted Kim to say congrats.

Kim quickly shut down the rumors during a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, joking that the photo was obviously fake for several reasons.

“I don’t want my man to propose to me with sunglasses on,” Kim said with a laugh.

Kim also shared the surprising origin story of their relationship. A mutual friend had set them up, inviting Kim to a Browns game. When her friend mentioned Garrett’s name, she heard something slightly different.

“I thought he said ‘Martin Garrix,'” Kim said, referencing the musician. “So the whole time I was at the game, I was waiting for Martin Garrix to perform.”

She spent the game expecting a halftime set from Garrix. When no performance materialized, she had a reasonable reaction.

“Martin Garrix never showed up, and I was like, ‘This guy is whack! Why is he not showing up?'” Kim said. “And I later find out that we were there to see Myles, and not Martin.”

The couple eventually connected, went public at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards in Tokyo in May 2025, and hard-launched with a sideline kiss at a Browns game that November. They haven’t been shy to share message for each other on social media.

Myles Garrett Was There Every Step of the Way at the Olympics

Fresh off winning the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award, Garrett flew to Italy, to support Kim. She entered the Games as a two-time defending champion in the halfpipe, competing through a shoulder injury. She narrowly missed a historic third consecutive gold, finishing second to 17-year-old South Korean sensation Choi Ga-on. Kim credited Garrett’s presence as a grounding force.

“It just made a really intense, stressful moment so light and kind of grounded me,” Kim said. “Myles has been in my life for a little over a year now, and he’s been the most amazing, supportive person in my life.”

Garrett will now gear up for another season with the Browns. Cleveland is coming off a 5-12 campaign and is in transition with new head coach Todd Monken coming in.
