UNC Legend Roy Williams supports Coby White in Hornets home debut

The Charlotte Hornets began Saturday's NBA slate with a 1P.M. game against the Portland Trail Blazers.

After consecutive wins against the Wizards, Bulls and Pacers, the Hornets were looking to make four in a row.

Seen sitting courtside was legendary coach and iconic North Carolina figure Roy Williams.

Although Williams has been seen at Hornets games in the past, he usually attends to support some of his former UNC players.

Saturday, that player was Coby White as Williams came to see his home debut in Charlotte, sitting courtside.

Williams played well with his former coach in attendance and addressed his presence during a halftime interview. "It's a blessing, him being at my first home game."

White came off the bench and was Charlotte's second leading scorer behind Brandon Miller (26 points). He finished with 20 points in 21 minutes of play, adding three rebounds and an assist as well.

Charlotte saved their best quarter for last, as the team posted a game-high 35 points in the fourth and cruised to a 16-point victory against Portland who were without All-Star Deni Avdija.

As a result, the Hornets moved back into ninth place in the Eastern Conference, tied with the Atlanta Hawks, but owning the head-to-head tie-breaker.

Charlotte trails the Miami Heat by one and a half games for the eight seed, but that could change with Miami facing the Houston Rockets this afternoon.

Next, the Hornets will turn their attention to the Dallas Mavericks and then the Boston Celtics on the second night of a back-to-back.
