Miami quarterback Carson Beck was booed during the NFL Combine but smiled thorugh the process to complete his throwing workout

When Miami quarterback Carson Beck stepped onto the turf at Lucas Oil Stadium for his throwing session on Saturday, the noise that followed was similar to the Indiana fanbase that traveled to Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens to see the Hoosiers defeat Miami 27-21 in the College Football Playoff National Championship only weeks earlier.

The crowd apparently had not forgotten about the six-year college QB who completed just 19 of 32 passes and capped off his college career with an intercepted pass thrown in double coverage to the Hoosiers. They booed the 23-year-old as soon as he picked up the football and throughout his workout.

As the booed Beck, he clearly heard it, processed it, and responded with a confident smile. Beck moved through his scripted drops, hit his wide receivers in stride, and continued the body language that earned him a combine invite.

As evaluators cared about arm strength and footwork, the internet reacted to the silent nod, recalling when the Hurricanes QB chose not to shake the hand of Indiana QB and Heisman winner Fernando Mendoza after the game.

When a fan wrote that booing NFL prospects at the combine was "loser ----" several replied, "Unless its Carson Beck." Another fan wrote, "Maybe don’t walk off the field of the National Championship game without shaking hands."

A third football fan added, "Spare me. Absolutely any fanbase in the country in the same situation would have done the exact same thing, and it wasn’t remotely serious. Beck was literally laughing."

Beck was booed throughout his workout at Lucas Oil Stadium

Beck measured in at 6-foot-5 and 233 pounds with 10-inch hands by combine officials, but opted out of athletic testing drills. The Miami QB did not run the 40-yard dash (4.36), vertical jump (43.50''), or broad jump (11.2''), all of which were topped and dominated by Arkansas QB Taylen Green.

Observers and NFL insiders observed increased accuracy on slants, outs, and curls, along with greater comfort when throwing intermediate passes during Beck's session. It was a significant milestone for skeptics after his 2024 UCL surgery at Georgia.

The most common comparison by NFL Scouts on Beck's combine profile remains Las Vegas Raiders backup Kenny Pickett, who was drafted in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Pickett has played for four NFL teams in his four-year NFL career, with 27 starts.

In a 2026 quarterback class led by Mendoza, who is projected to be the No. 1 overall pick by the Las Vegas Raiders, Beck is widely projected as a Day 2 or Day 3 selection.

He completed 72.4 percent of his passes at Miami in 2025, throwing for 3,813 yards and 30 touchdowns during a 13-3 campaign that included playoff victories over Texas A&M, Ohio State, and Ole Miss.

Across Georgia and Miami, Beck finished his college career with 11,725 career passing yards and 88 touchdowns. He is also a two-time CFP national champion and a former second-team All-SEC selection.
