Joel Embiid continues to have a stop-and-start season with latest oblique injury

The Philadelphia 76ers have had a good season with Tyrese Maxey leading the charge. He has been superb as the 76ers' go-to guy, but everyone knows that Joel Embiid has the most potential out of any player on the roster.

Unfortunately, injuries have limited his impact this season. He has been decent when healthy, but he continues to struggle with injuries, and this oblique strain is the latest one in his troubling history.

Embiid is struggling with another lower-body injury

The 76ers might be relying on Maxey as the star player, but he needs help. Embiid is the best player on the team when he's healthy, but it seems that he's never had a clean bill of health in recent years.

Add Paul George's suspension on top of that, and the 76ers continue to deal with massive issues. Head coach Nick Nurse and his players have done a fantastic job of being in the sixth seed, but that could disappear if they continue to struggle.

Thankfully for the 76ers, they have Maxey and VJ Edgecombe as the bright spots of the current team. The 76ers announced that Embiid will miss a few games with a strained right oblique, which is still worrying.

Lower-body injuries are no joke, especially for a big man like Embiid. He has historically dealt with lower-body injuries throughout his career, so getting another one is a bad sign.

Thankfully, the 76ers have done a great job of keeping Embiid strong despite the injuries this season. They have all the tools to become a good team, as long as they maintain Embiid's health amid this latest strain.

If they can get Embiid and George back in time, they might stand a chance in the postseason. They would want to maintain their grip on the sixth seed for automatic Playoff berth, but they have to rely on Maxey carrying the team without his star teammates.
