Why Rui Hachimura isn't playing tonight for Lakers with injury news

The Los Angeles Lakers have been at less than full strength for much of the season.

On Saturday when they take on the Golden State Warriors, though, they're very close. Luka Doncic, LeBron James and Austin Reaves are all available and good to go.

They're missing just one rotation player: Rui Hachimura.

Why isn't Rui Hachimura playing tonight?

Rui Hachimura is out on Saturday, but it's not due to injury.

The Lakers list him as out with an illness on the official NBA injury report.

Hachimura most recently played on Feb. 24 in a 110-109 loss to the Orlando Magic. The Lakers played on Thursday, Feb. 26 without him, and that was a 113-110 loss to the Phoenix Suns.

The former Gonzaga star has played in 47 games this season and is averaging 11.7 points and 3.4 rebounds per game.

Hachimura has shot the ball extremely well, making 50.6% of his shots from the floor, which includes a remarkable 44.0% from 3-point range.

The Lakers have to rely more heavily on Marcus Smart and Jake LaRavia when Hachimura doesn't play.

They'll be hoping to get him back soon, but it won't be on Saturday.
