Packers to Part Ways With Key Jordan Love Teammate

It's no secret the Green Bay Packers' offense runs through quarterback Jordan Love.

But the team made the decision this week to move on from one of Love's offensive teammates. Green Bay chose not to tender restricted free agent running back Emanuel Wilson, meaning he will now hit the free-agent market.

Wilson was Green Bay's second-leading rushing last season, putting up 496 yards and three touchdowns on the ground in addition to 15 catches for 99 yards through the air.

The 26-year-old stepped up when starting RB Brandon Jacobs went down with an injury in the middle of the season, recording a 107-yard, two-touchdown rushing performance against the division rival Minnesota Vikings on Nov. 11.

Wilson spent the first three years of his career in Green Bay, totaling 1,083 yards and seven touchdowns on 242 carries while adding 30 catches for 170 yards and another score.

Following the move, the Packers are left with Jacobs, Damien Martinez, and Pierre Strong as the only running backs under contract next season.

Both Wilson and Chris Brooks are set to be free agents.

Jacobs rushed for a team-high 929 yards and 13 touchdowns in 15 games this year. Brooks had 106 yards on 27 carries, and he was the only other RB besides Wilson to contribute on the ground.
