Whatever the outcome of Liverpool's season, significant decisions will need to be taken this summer. Despite a disappointing defence of their Premier League crown, a successful campaign can still be salvaged, with the Reds continuing to compete for the FA Cup and Champions League.

Securing a place in Europe's elite competition appears set to go down to the final stretch as they compete with Chelsea, Manchester United and Aston Villa for the qualifying positions. Despite a summer of spending that reached £450million, Arne Slot and the hierarchy still have considerable work to do in the next transfer window.

In addition to new arrivals with the Reds needing to strengthen their wide positions, there could be multiple departures with Mohamed Salah's situation continuing to attract speculation - despite the Egyptian penning fresh terms last year.

Alongside the 33-year-old's most recent statement on his situation, we also examine the Reds potentially losing another player for a cut-price sum.

It's been quite the transformation for Salah at Anfield following his December outburst when his short-term Liverpool future was thrown into doubt after he was omitted for three successive fixtures.

More than two months after accusing the club of using him as a scapegoat for their difficulties and asserting he and Slot had "no relationship," the Egyptian has been restored to favour under the Dutchman, with fewer than 18 months remaining on his contract.

Nevertheless, a summer departure is "increasingly likely," according to BBC Sport, which would mark the conclusion of the 33-year-old's distinguished Anfield career. Salah has persistently attracted interest from multiple Saudi Pro League clubs, whilst a move to MLS also remains a possibility.

The potential exit, however, is said to hinge on Salah's substantial wage expectations. As Liverpool's top earner, it will undoubtedly require a monumental proposal to secure his Anfield departure.

The midfielder may be Liverpool's sole homegrown player in the squad, but he was reportedly on the brink of departing his boyhood club during the closing days of the January transfer window following interest from Inter Milan. Like Salah, his contract also expires in the summer of 2027.

Whilst he ultimately stayed at the club, his playing time diminished in matches against Manchester City and Sunderland, where he accumulated just 20 combined minutes.

Having failed to progress from squad player to guaranteed starter, the 25-year-old may begin contemplating his future as his contract runs down at the conclusion of next season.

According to Corriere dello Sport, his expiring deal is anticipated to prompt Inter to launch a second bid to secure him in a cut-price transfer. Jones' elevation into the England senior squad occurred last year but he has slipped out of contention in recent squads owing to a shortage of regular starts at club level.

A determination to revive his international career could see him weighing up a departure, but it remains to be seen whether Liverpool would sanction a sale of their homegrown talent.
