Chelsea have been drawn against Paris Saint-Germain in the last 16 of the Champions League but it is a PSG player that has now emerged on Chelsea’s radar, in Senny Mayulu.
The two sides do battle once again for a place in the Champions League quarter-finals later this month. It sees Chelsea take on the side they beat to win the Club World Cup final last summer, over in America.
Chelsea are expected to be in the market for a new midfield signing this summer. Moises Caicedo is the first name on the team sheet, with Andrey Santos his partner and Enzo Fernandez playing further forward.

But beyond that, Chelsea have little in terms of midfield depth despite their enormous squad. It saw them target players like Douglas Luiz and Curtis Jones in January. In the summer, midfielders will be a priority.
Chelsea want Senny Mayulu as PSG open to offers
Just 19 years of age, Mayulu has broken into the first team under Luis Enrique and clocked up a total of 72 appearances in all competitions. Able to play in a few roles, Mayulu has also had a hand in 20 goals.
This is a player largely considered as one of the best in the world at his age. Whether that be in midfield, in attack, as a false nine or in attacking midfield. Despite all that, Mayulu has rejected an offer from PSG.

His current deal ends in June 2027 and with that in mind, Caught Offside report PSG will entertain his exit for a fee that could eventually reach £61m. Chelsea are one of several Premier League clubs interested.
Arsenal see him as Kai Havertz’s heir, while Man City are also interested and both Newcastle United and Aston Villa have made enquiries. He seems destined for the Premier League this summer, but where?
What Luis Enrique has said about Senny Mayulu
Having trialled him in a new position, at full-back against Montpellier at the end of last season, Enrique spoke publicly of his affection for Mayulu. But he did admit Mayulu doesn’t play as much as he’d like.
Surely we can just put our trust in Andrey Santos?

“I like him a lot. I was delighted he stayed. It’s hard to be a starter at PSG, especially in this PSG. He’s important for the club’s future and can become a key player here,” Enrique said about a year ago.
“We tested him as a full-back tonight and he can also play there. He has a strong personality and is always ready. He always trains well, even if he plays less than he’d like, but he has great character.”
PSG will be desperate to keep Mayulu but they are under no illusion that they will need to sell him if new terms cannot be reached before the summer. Mayulu will be pure profit for the French side, too.
