Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans is being linked to the Bills

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers did not have the strongest of seasons in 2025. They finished the 2025 campaign with an 8-9 record and missed the playoffs for the first time since 2019. This included them finishing the year with losses in four out of their final five games.

With how this past season went for the Buccaneers, there is an expectation that they will be having a busy offseason. They should be looking to address multiple needs this offseason as they hope to put together a bounce-back season in 2026.

However, the biggest storyline of this offseason for the Buccaneers will be what happens with star wide receiver Mike Evans. The 32-year-old wide receiver has the opportunity to test the free agent market this offseason, so all eyes will be on the Galveston, Texas native until he makes his decision about his future in Tampa Bay.

The Buccaneers should be looking to keep Evans around, as he is still an incredibly important part of their roster and an elite talent. Losing him would create a big hole in their lineup, and it would not be easy to replace the longtime Buccaneer.

However, a new prediction has the Buccaneers losing Evans in free agency to one of the NFL’s biggest contenders.

Bill Predicted to Steal Mike Evans From Buccaneers in Free Agency

In a recent article for ESPN, Aaron Schatz discussed one free agent that each NFL team should be looking to sign this offseason. At the start of it, Schatz predicted that the Buffalo Bills would be the team that lands Evans this offseason in free agency.

“Buffalo needs a No. 1 option for quarterback Josh Allen, and Evans is still a talented “X” receiver. He has the size — standing at 6-foot-5, 231 pounds — and ball skills to win contested catches. Allen could also trust Evans on third down; in 2024, he had a team-high 220 yards on third down for the Bucs,” Schatz wrote.

When looking at the Bills’ current roster, it is understandable that they are being viewed as a prime potential landing spot for Evans. There is no question that they need a star wide receiver on their roster, and bringing in Evans would provide them with just that.

Joining the Bills would also give Evans the opportunity to play for one of the NFL’s top contenders. It is likely that Buffalo would love to land Evans, as the veteran wide receiver has a Super Bowl ring, and the Bills are in their win-now window. Thus, they could be a good match for each other.

Buccaneers Will Have Competition to Keep Evans Around

With Evans still being a big-time star at this juncture of his career, there is no question that he will generate a lot of interest in free agency. Besides the Bills, teams like the New England Patriots, Kansas City Chiefs, and Baltimore Ravens all could be in the mix for the 12-year veteran this offseason.

Nevertheless, it is going to be very interesting to see if the Buccaneers can successfully re-sign Evans from here. Clearly, the Bills are a team to watch in the sweepstakes.
