The young Reds had to settle for a point in their most recent game away to Blackburn, drawing 1-1.
Saturday’s trip to Boro offered Simon Wiles’ Liverpool side a good chance of all three, though, and they duly obliged.
But it was the hosts who made the better start to the game, with Lucca Kakai coming close to opening the scoring after good work from Joseph Jones.
A La’more Lee Forrester shot was about the best Liverpool could muster in a forgettable first half, but their fortunes changed after the break.

Kornel Misciur denied Isaac Greenup in a one-on-one, and it proved to be a key moment, with the Reds taking the lead soon after.
Just after the hour mark, Sonni-Lambie clipped a lovely dinked finish into the net, assisted by Erik Farkas, putting Liverpool 1-0 up at the Middlesbrough Academy.
It was Sonni-Lambie’s 21st goal of a fantastic season for him personally, with the 18-year-old a player of immense promise.
Kakai and Lee Forrester exchanged chances for either team, but it was Liverpool who prevailed, with Sonni-Lambie again the difference-maker.

The Reds’ win means they sit third in the U18 Premier League table, but 10 points adrift of leaders Man City, who have played two games fewer.
Next up for Wiles’ youngsters is a home clash with City next Saturday (11am GMT), which will be a huge test of their credentials.
