The former Liverpool defender was not happy with Bayer Leverkusen’s latest performance, at all.

Jarell Quansah departed Liverpool for the Bundesliga side last summer in a deal that included a buy back clause.

Since linking up with his new teammates in Germany, Quansah has become a key part of the side, building on the promise that he showed on several occasions in a Liverpool shirt.

Bayer Leverkusen find themselves falling slightly off the pace in the Bundesliga as they currently sit in sixth and their draw 1-1 draw with Mainz yesterday further emphasised their inconsistencies.

With Jarell Quansah’s side originally heading for defeat, the former Liverpool defender took it into his own hands to score a brilliant goal as he surged forward from the back and equalised in the 88th minute to make sure he salvaged a draw for his team.

However, after the game he didn’t hold back from telling reporters what he really thought about his side’s performances this season.

Speaking to Werkself-TV, he said: “We didn’t win, and in my opinion, that’s not enough. We’ve been saying this a lot lately: we don’t have enough fire, not enough intensity. It wasn’t enough again.”

“I have the feeling that we are currently playing against ourselves. We are not playing together enough, we have different ideas. We are playing in an uncoordinated manner and need to regroup.”

“Some games in the league went well but this definitely wasn’t one of them.”

A scathing assessment from the former Liverpool man who did all he could in the game, as he was ranked the best player on the pitch for Bayer Leverkusen by BILD.
