The Philadelphia 76ers will look to pull out a fourth consecutive win when they head to Boston to take on the rival Celtics on Sunday night.
Unfortunately, they won’t have the services of their star center for the matchup.
Joel Embiid ruled out vs. Celtics due to strained right oblique
Joel Embiid has been ruled out of the game due to a strained right oblique that he suffered during game action against the Miami Heat on Thursday night.
Embiid will also miss Philadelphia's next two games against the San Antonio Spurs and Utah Jazz as a result of the injury. The big man has also missed games recently due to right knee injury management and right shin soreness.
On the season, Embiid has played in 33 games for Philly and posted averages of 26.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.1 blocks per performance.
The matchup on Sunday night will be the fourth and final of the season between Philadelphia and Boston. The Sixers won two out of the first three meetings, so they can win the season series with another victory.
Both teams are right in the thick of the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference. The Celtics (39-20) sit second in the conference, while the Sixers (33-26) are several games behind them in the sixth spot.
