Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves are expected to have a significant influence over whether LeBron James returns to the Los Angeles Lakers next season.
Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James is showing no signs of slowing down in his record-breaking 23rd NBA season. However, the 41-year-old will become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, leaving his future uncertain.
Los Angeles Lakers / Schedule
If James decides to continue his career, the two most realistic options appear to be re-signing with the Lakers or returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers for a third stint.
According to Lakers Daily, Los Angeles may be preparing for life after LeBron, with plans to build around Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves.
Still, the door remains open for James to return. The same report states that Doncic and Reaves would like him back if he chooses not to retire.
Although James, Doncic, and Reaves have struggled at times to fully click as a "Big Three" this season, they reportedly maintain a strong relationship.
One Lakers Daily source said that Luka "wants to make things work with James" and enjoys playing alongside the future Hall of Famer.

James joined the Lakers in 2018 and led the franchise to the 2020 NBA championship.
This season, he is averaging 21.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 7.0 assists for the 35-24 Lakers.
For now, LeBron has yet to decide whether he will retire this summer or return for another season.
