ESPN's Kenneth Walker rumor spells trouble for Seahawks RB's future in Seattle

Based on the latest report from ESPN, it's not looking good for running back Kenneth Walker's chances of staying with the Seattle Seahawks.

According to ESPN's Dan Graziano, Walker's market is seemingly robust enough that it could mean the end of his days with the Seahawks.

Graziano goes on to add that Walker has a good chance to surpass the contract that the Dallas Cowboys gave Javonte Williams, which was $24 million over three years ($8 million annual average).

"The backs who sound like they have a good chance to top Williams' number are... Kenneth Walker III, who sounds like he's generating enough outside interest to spell the end of his time in Seattle," Graziano wrote.

Walker has widely been viewed as one of top free-agent prizes at running back this offseason, and that case was only bolstered by his playoff heroics.

The Seahawks are also in a good position to be able to re-sign him, even if it takes a lot of money. Seattle ranks sixth in the NFL in cap space with $59.5 million.

While that would suggest the Seahawks have the funds to back up the Brinks truck for him, clearly general manager John Schneider has a limit and a robust market for Walker could push Seattle past that limit.

That limit exists because Walker is far from a perfect running back.

Yes, he is explosive and can be a game-changer, as we saw in the postseason, but he is also not great as a pass-catcher or pass protector, and he has had a history of battling injuries that further hurts his ability to be a true three-down back.

In fact, the Seahawks made it a point of emphasis to limit Walker's work during the regular season in 2025 in order to try and keep him healthy.

After many assumed Walker had a better chance to return than not, it would appear Seahawks fans need to prepare themselves for a future without the veteran running back.
