A Liverpool legend is among celebrities forced to shelter amid ongoing tensions in the region.
Chaos has erupted in the Gulf region as increasing tension in that area of the world has led to many flights being grounded and tourists left with no way of getting home.
It remains to be seen when planes will be able to take to the air again, but one person who is very much a part of the Liverpool community has been affected, and we wish for him to return to the UK as soon as possible.
Graeme Souness is currently stranded in Abu Dhabi International Airport after all flights were cancelled.
On an Instagram story published to his account, he gave his thoughts on his current situation.
“I’m currently in the Middle East, at Abu Dhabi airport. My mother used to tell me when I was little: ‘Wherever you are, there’s never a dull moment.’ Well, I’m at this airport and we’re hearing some pretty loud bangs, and its anti-missile systems shooting down missiles that are being fired at an American base.”
“We are grumpy about airport delays, but I think we should think about the people who could die right now,” he said in a second Instagram story.
Whilst he acknowledged the inconvenience, it is encouraging to see the 72-year-old urging his Instagram followers to have perspective.
His flight has been cancelled, and he revealed that he plans to go and stay in a nearby hotel.
