Cardinals head coach LaFleur looking to reunite with Super Bowl champion quarterback

The NFL Scouting Combine is coming to a close, and the next phase is now approaching. The new league year starts on March 11th.

While free agency’s “legal tampering” period can begin next Monday, contracts won’t be official until the following Wednesday. Among these potential moves, expect the quarterback position to be a hot topic.

The Arizona Cardinals will be moving on from their current signal-caller, Kyler Murray. Reports have surfaced that they will be moving on with someone specific in mind for head coach Mike LaFleur.

It has been reported that former San Francisco and Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is “LaFleur’s guy”. Garoppolo is set to hit free agency after spending two seasons with the Los Angeles Rams.

In LA, LaFleur and Garoppolo reunited after spending 2017 to 2020 in San Fran. Now the Cardinals head coach wants to bring “Jimmy G” to the desert.

Garoppolo has had previous success as a starter with LaFleur. He led the 49ers to a Super Bowl appearance in 2019 and almost got them back there in 2021.

Garoppolo fell out of favor in San Francisco following the surprising rise of Brock Purdy. He has not been able to replicate the same success since leaving the 49ers.

Garoppolo won two Super Bowls as a backup quarterback in New England–including a 2-0 record in 2016 while Tom Brady was suspended.

With the new league year quickly approaching, it appears the Cardinals might have their plan at quarterback.
