Tonje, 24, was acquired from the Utah Jazz ahead of the February 5 trade deadline.

At the time, he was on a two-way deal but was converted to a 10-day contract to help Boston remain below the luxury tax line following a series of cost-cutting moves in February.

A consensus second-team All-American last season at Wisconsin Badgers, Tonje recently scored his first professional points. He reached that milestone in Boston's 148-111 win over the Brooklyn Nets on Friday night.

So far, Tonje has appeared in two NBA games for the Celtics.

The 53rd overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, Tonje was selected by the Jazz last June and signed a two-way contract with Utah in August.

He did not appear in an NBA game before being included in the deadline trade that sent Chris Boucher and a future second-round pick to the Jazz.
