Vikings' wide receiver Jalen Nailor has been labeled one of the top sleeper free agents across the league this offseason

The Minnesota Vikings are entering what is widely believed to be a pivotal offseason for the future of the franchise. After laboring through the 2025 campaign, thanks to some less-than-stellar quarterback play from J.J. McCarthy, the Vikings know that they need to find a proper answer at the most important position in the game of football over the next few months.

Of course, the quarterback spot isn’t the only area that Minnesota has to worry about. The front office has its own crop of pending free agents that it needs to keep tabs on, with one of the top players from that group being wide receiver Jalen Nailor. While the Vikings likely want to re-sign Nailor, it sounds like they may face some competition for his services.

Jalen Nailor Labeled a Top Sleeper Free Agent

The Vikings selected Nailor in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, and he gradually turned himself into a solid secondary playmaker for the team. Despite featuring in an offense that also includes stars like Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, and T.J. Hockenson, Nailor found a way to stand out and create big plays on offense.

Nailor enjoyed the best season of his career in 2025, as he posted career-highs in receptions (29) and receiving yards (444) while also hauling in four touchdowns. Several of Minnesota’s top playmakers struggled to get on the same page as McCarthy, but Nailor was a guy who he frequently managed to link up with throughout the year.

Now, Nailor is set to hit the open market, and it appears as if there’s a real shot he lands with a new team. While the Vikings would obviously like to bring him back to town, teams across the league believe he’s capable of doing more than he was allowed in Minnesota, leading him to be labeled a top “sleeper free agent” by Jeremy Fowler and Dan Graziano of ESPN.

“Vikings wide receiver Jalen Nailor: He was never fully utilized in Minnesota, but the coaches love him,” Fowler and Graziano wrote when explaining Nailor’s inclusion on their list of sleeper free agents.

Should the Vikings Re-Sign Jalen Nailor?

Nailor has upside that teams across the league seem to believe he won’t be able to realize playing with the Vikings. Yes, lining up alongside Jefferson and Addison helps take attention away from Nailor, but he’s never going to be able to reach his full potential when playing alongside a pair of star pass catchers who command as many targets as these two guys do.

Add in the fact that there aren’t many great wide receiver options available in free agency, and that only makes Nailor more valuable. Speedy playmakers who can rip off huge chunks of yardage when they get the ball aren’t easy to find, and while Minnesota will likely try to retain Nailor in free agency, it ultimately wouldn’t be a major surprise to see him find a new home this offseason when all is said and done.
