Many NFL players have shared beautiful stories of how their parents positively shaped their lives. In Amon-Ra St. Brown’s case, his father, John Brown, is telling the stories himself.
John Brown shared a crucial piece of advice he gave his son while in high school that might have helped his career. And while some people disagreed with the advice, Mr. John has a son as partial proof of his parental success.

John Brown had noticed that Amon-Ra, who was in high school at the time, was starting to get emotional about a girl. Apparently, the girl turned out to be his long-term girlfriend, Adams, with whom they now share a home after nearly 10 years together.
Seeing the love story in its unpredictable, volatile phase, John Brown recants, telling his son to avoid girls in general because they could “kill dreams.” For many moms, girls, and dads with female kids, John’s comments seemed a little far-fetched.
However, John returned toclarify his statements after reading the room’s disagreement with his blunt take. First, in his defense, he repeats the same line about boys (for girls). John’s point to his son, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and his girlfriend was that nothing should take them off their goals: not alcohol, not drugs, and not girls.

Thankfully, their relationship proved that. Since they met while he was in tenth grade, she’s watched him go from high school All-American to NFL All-Pro.
The high school sweethearts bought their home after Adams graduated from nursing school in 2024. Together, they also created the St. Brown Foundation, an education-based initiative. While he and his loved ones are public figures, they’ve managed to maintain “a somewhat private life.”
While speaking about his relationship with Adams, Amon-Ra felt “amazing” having her by his side and also thanked his family for being so supportive of his career.
The 26-year-old wide receiver’s career with the Detroit Lions would mark another historic milestone after the franchise announced an upcoming 2026 NFL game in Munich. For Amon-Ra, whose mother is German, the event marks a special moment to reconnect with his maternal homeland in grand style.
