The former Dolphins player once talked about how $100 million is not enough for someone, and doesn’t last long. He highlighted things like taxes, gent fees, lifestyle expenses, family obligations, and the short career span in the NFL, as factors that take away most of that money. For a long time, fans did not agree with his statement and bashed him. Recently, former NBA guard Iman Shumpert offered an opposite perspective from Beckham’s opinion. He was asked about Odell’s opinion that $100 million is not enough and replied that players like Odell spend it all irresponsibly.
He revealed in an interview with Club Shay Shay that he never overspent and had a financial advisor to manage his money, “I can’t go broke. It’s no way I’m going broke. My brother and my financial advisor had been taking half my check the whole time, so I never knew how much money I had. … If I’m looking at my account and I don’t see nothing but a couple of hundreds of bands, I’ll never go spend a million.”
Shumpert reiterated the same thing in the rest of the interview, saying that players should focus on saving money, and stop overspending money on unnecessary things. Fans completely agreed with Shumpert and mocked Odell in the comments section.
