The 2026 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis delivered unexpected drama during on-field workouts when former Miami Hurricanes quarterback Carson Beck was audibly booed every time he threw a pass, creating one of the most awkward scenes in recent Combine history.
The pro-Indiana crowd let him hear it loud and clear, despite Beck putting together a strong performance in front of scouts and teams.

NFL Combine Drama: Carson Beck Booed During Drills While Fernando Mendoza Draws Massive Cheers – Fans Slam “Lame” Crowd Behavior
It’s rare — if not unheard of — for prospects to be booed at the Combine, an event traditionally focused on evaluation rather than rivalry energy. Beck, widely viewed as one of the top QB prospects in the class, didn’t let the negative reaction affect his work, completing accurate throws and showing off his arm strength. But the crowd’s hostility became the story, with fans and analysts calling it “loser shit,” “disrespectful,” and “lame.”

Social media erupted with criticism:
“Booing prospects at the Combine is loser s**t man,” wrote JP Acosta.
“Booing Carson Beck during his workout at the combine is the lamest thing ever. Just disrespectful and not needed smh.”
“Indiana fanbase booing Beck during the combine? Easily the lamest fanbase in CFB already after 1 year of being relevant,” a Miami supporter fired back.
“NFL needs to put a stop to fans booing players at the combine. Have some shame.”
Many argued the Combine is a job interview, not a road game, and booing a prospect trying to earn a living is out of line.
Fernando Mendoza Draws the Opposite Reaction
While Beck faced boos, Indiana’s own Fernando Mendoza — the Heisman Trophy finalist and top quarterback prospect — received the opposite treatment. Fans cheered wildly every time he walked the turf or met with teams, even though he didn’t participate in Saturday’s on-field session.
Mendoza shared a positive update after interviewing with the Las Vegas Raiders, who hold the No. 1 overall pick:
“I was lucky enough to interview with the Las Vegas Raiders. It was a fantastic interview. Coaching staff was in there. We went over some of my previous plays and did plays on the board.
I thought it was a great meeting. I know they have the No. 1 pick, but anything can happen in the draft. Excited for the opportunity and whatever team drafts me, I am going to give everything I got to them.”
The stark contrast between the crowd’s treatment of Beck and Mendoza has fueled discussions about home-state bias, fan behavior at the Combine, and whether the NFL should reconsider allowing large public crowds if the energy turns hostile.
