Dolphins expected to work on extensions for star $21M center, $26M linebacker

The Miami Dolphins have a lot of work to do this offseason, even after releasing Tyreek Hill and Bradley Chubb. Tua Tagovailoa could also be dealt, while Minkah Fitzpatrick is a strong trade candidate.

But there are some staples to the roster. De'von Achane and Jaylen Waddle are not expected to go anywhere, as they're stars who are hard to replace. But, is there any other player who fits this description?

According to ESPN's Dan Graziano, the Dolphins are expected to make a big extension push on two players: linebacker Jordyn Brooks and center Aaron Brewer.

Dolphins expected to try extending Brewer, Brooks

"Expect the. Dolphins to work on extensions this offseason for running back De'Von Achane, center Aaron Brewer, and linebacker Jordyn Brook," Graziano reports.

The Dolphins have some major holes to fill across the roster, and they're also willing to cut ties with veterans who aren't worth keeping around.

That is not the case with Brewer and Brooks. For starters, Brewer was a great center in 2025, so much so that he was a finalist for the NFL Protector of the Year Award.

He's currently on a three-year, $21 million contract, and if he gets an extension worthy of his play, that $7 million per-year figure is going to jump into the double-digits.

Brooks, on the other hand, was named first-team All-Pro this season thanks to some remarkable numbers in a career year.

He started all 17 games, recording three passes defended, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, 3.5 sacks, and four quarterback hits.

But where he really shone was his tackling. He led the NFL with 183 tackles and 99 solo tackles. He also had 13 tackles for loss in an overall incredible year.

He's currently in the middle of a $26.25 million contract over three years that will also see a big raise after his breakout 2025 season for the Dolphins.

Both Brooks and Brewer are in line for some big-money extensions this offseason. While they're veterans and might not fit the rebuild timeline of the Dolphins, they're players worth keeping around, even if it costs the Dolphins a bit.
