According to the Grizzlies' official medical update, Edey will have surgery to address ongoing discomfort and talar bone stress in his left ankle.
The issue stems from complications following his previous procedure on June 10, which was performed to correct laxity and re-stabilize the lateral side of the ankle joint.
While doctors determined that Edey's lateral ligaments remain stable post-surgery, the persistent discomfort has been linked to progressive laxity in the deltoid (medial) ligaments.
As a result, the upcoming procedure will focus on reinforcing the medial ligament complex and promoting proper bone healing in the talus.
Edey is expected to make a full recovery. A clearer timeline for his return will be provided after the surgery is completed.
The Grizzlies also provided an update on forward Brandon Clarke, who continues to rehab a right calf strain sustained on Dec. 20.
Clarke will require additional rehabilitation before progressing further in his return-to-play process and will be reevaluated in approximately two weeks.
