Former Houston Texans assistant coach Jerrod Johnson has been hired by the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Philadelphia Eagles need all the help they can get on the path to getting their offense back on track in 2026 — a path that now includes a former NFL quarterback as a late addition to their coaching staff.
According to multiple reports on Sunday, the Eagles have added longtime journeyman quarterback and former Houston Texans assistant coach Jerrod Johnson for their coaching staff.
“FormerTexans QB coachJerrod Johnson is joining theEagles’ coaching staff, source says,” NFL Network’s Mike Garofolo wrote on his official X account. “Johnson and Houston mutually parted ways so he could seek other opportunities. He heads to Philly to work alongside HC Nick Sirianni and new OC Sean Mannion.”
Johnson has deep ties to the Eagles’ current coaching staff, including working with current head coach Nick Sirianni when Sirianni was the offensive coordinator for the Indianapolis Colts.
“Johnson has intrigued the Eagles in the past, interviewing for OC job in 2024 and 2026,” The Athletic’s Zach Berman wrote on X. “He overlapped with Nick Sirianni in Indy. Johnson was seen chatting with Eagles coaches in the Indy airport this week.”
“Johnson interviewed for the Eagles’ OC job three times in the last three seasons,” The Athletic’s Brooks Kubena wrote. “He worked with Nick Sirianni in Indy and OL coach Chris Kuper in Minnesota.”
