NFL insider Jeremy Fowler connects the Tennessee Titans to a Chicago Bears' 112-tackle machine at the NFL combine.
Tremaine Edmunds could be the NFL offseason’s biggest defensive trade chip — and the Tennessee Titans are right in the middle of the conversation, with fresh combine intel tying the Tennessee Titans to the Chicago Bears‘ 112-tackle machine. There could be a multi-team bidding war brewing behind the scenes, and there’s plenty of expert breakdown already mapping out the fit.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported from the NFL Combine in Indianapolis that the Tennessee Titans are among the teams showing interest in Edmunds, the Chicago Bears linebacker who was told he could find a new home.
The NFL news dropped like a bomb at the combine — and it makes perfect sense. The Titans went 3-14 in 2025 and allowed 28.1 points per game, ranking 28th in the NFL in scoring defense. The Titans needs a tone-setter in the middle of that defense, and Edmunds could fit that mold.
Why the Tennessee Titans Are Targeting Edmunds This NFL Offseason
Edmunds racked up 112 total tackles, 4 interceptions, and 9 passes defensed in just 13 games for the Chicago Bears in 2025. He’s been a 100-tackle machine for eight consecutive NFL seasons, a streak that puts him in rare company at the position.
The Bears are moving on for one reason: money. Edmunds is entering the final season of the $72 million deal he inked with Chicago back in 2023, and his 2026 cap hit sits at $17.9 million. If the Bears trade him before June 1, they’d save roughly $15 million in cap space. That’s a no-brainer for a Chicago Bears front office looking to reshape the entire roster this NFL offseason.
Edmunds turns 28 in May. He’s not a declining asset — he’s a proven three-down linebacker entering his prime.
What This Means for the Tennessee Titans in 2026
The Titans aren’t the only team in the mix. Fowler reported that the New York Giants and Las Vegas Raiders are also circling Edmunds as potential trade partners. But Tennessee might have the strongest case. The Titans hold a top-four pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, and ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. recently mocked Ohio State linebacker Arvell Reese to them at No. 4 overall.
Trading for Edmunds would give the Titans an immediate NFL starter while still letting them use that draft capital elsewhere. For a Tennessee Titans franchise in full rebuild mode after a 3-14 disaster, adding a 112-tackle linebacker is the kind of NFL offseason move that changes the entire identity of a defense.
