The Sixers backup big man can only sympathize with Embiid amid new injury condition.
Joel Embiid remains unfortunate from a health standpoint.
Once again, the Philadelphia 76ers superstar is set to be sidelined for a significant timeframe. It was recently announced that Embiid will miss the team's next three games after suffering from a strained right oblique.
This is a new brutal injury for the star big man, who has been limited to just 33 appearances this 2025-26 season due to shin, knee, and ankle issues combined.
As such, Andre Drummond offered an honest reaction to Embiid's persistent injury absence in Philadelphia.
“I want to wrap him in a bubble sheet and give him a hug, man," he told reporters Sunday about Embiid, via Gina Mizell of The Philadelphia Inquirer. "I just feel like he can’t get a break.”
The Sixers are back in contention this season. They are holding the sixth spot of the Eastern Conference with a 33-26 record.
But the team's chances of winning it all definitely depend on Embiid's availability, and the 76ers can only hope for the best regarding their franchise star's condition.
This season, Embiid is averaging 26.6 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists. For the remainder of the season, a healthy stretch from him will be an absolute game-changer for the 76ers.
