Latest Mike Evans update is a Buccaneers nightmare

The future of Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver Mike Evans is set to be a must-watch storyline over the coming weeks.

With the veteran set to explore his options, that alone didn't sound good for Tampa Bay's chances of retaining him.

But if fans thought that was a worrying sign, well, they aren't going to like this latest update, as it essentially spells the end of Evans' time in Tampa. Well, at least I think so.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, through speaking to league people at the scouting combine, has detailed that Evans has certain criteria that he wants met with any team he joins.

**"**Mike Evans will limit his choices to a handful of teams in part because of his criteria," Fowler wrote. "He wants a quarterback he believes in, a chance at a Super Bowl, a top-shelf offensive coordinator and the promise of high-volume touches. Only so many teams fit that mold."

Evans "criteria" spells Bucs end?

The only thing the Buccaneers have on Evans' criteria list is a quarterback he trusts in Baker Mayfield.

The others? The chance at a Super Bowl, top OC, and high-volume touches aren't likely attainable in Tampa Bay.

Of course, this is just us guessing, as Evans could easily turn around and sign with the Buccaneers in 2026, but that doesn't feel where this is headed, does it?

Still, we could be wrong about this, as the NFL is an odd beast when it comes to free agency, but if we are following the breadcrumbs correctly, then it appears Evans might have played his last down as a Buccaneer.
