The future of Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery is a fascinating watch, with the veteran playing second-fiddle to Jahmyr Gibbs.
This has led to some speculation over his future with the franchise, and that is expected, given that Montgomery is now firmly behind Gibbs in the pecking order.
However, it appears some are getting their wires crossed about what Montgomery actually wants, because ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that Montgomery wants out of Detroit and that the franchise would take a third-round pick.
And Montgomery himself has taken to social media to put that rumor to bed.
Damn, Dmo told you that ? https://t.co/ttg4DY6H99

What does Montgomery's future look like?
Well, for one, based on his X post, it appears that staying in Detroit with Gibbs isn't off the table, so that will be big for Lions fans.
But if he does, in fact, want to seek chances to be the No. 1 back, then several teams could do with his services, most notably the Kansas City Chiefs.
A cut or a trade of Montgomery will see the Lions gain cap space, but not that much, so it could be worth sticking with him unless an offer comes in that will make it hard to refuse.
Still, it appears Montgomery doesn't have an issue staying in Detroit, but time will tell if the running back does, in fact, stay a Lion.
