The Pistons were particularly in command for the first 24 minutes of the game, leading 57-50 at halftime. But the Pistons turned the tables around and executed a furious second-half surge to ace the dominant win.
In his postgame presser, Paolo Banchero dropped intriguing words about how the Magic can overcome their second-half struggles.
“Just being more organized. Being able to communicate with each other, what we’re trying to do. Teams, a lot of times, adjust at halftime and I think that’s why we struggled a lot in the second half just cause we don’t really adjust to their adjustments," he told reporters, via Jason Beede of The Orlando Sentinel.
"So, that’s when we need to see how they’re playing us and we just need to clearly communicate to each other what it is that we need to do, particularly offensively, to fight those runs and continue to play good basketball.”
Banchero and the Magic failed to maintain their momentum throughout the game, as the Pistons blazed starting in the third quarter, courtesy of an 11-0 aggressive run.
As such, the Pistons only scored 35 points in the final two quarters, shooting 30.7 percent from the field. While Banchero led Orlando with 24 points and 11 rebounds, he tallied a game-worst -25 out of his nine turnovers.
It will be interesting to see how Banchero and the Magic will try to adapt out of head coach Jamahl Mosley's directives. They will aim to bounce back on Tuesday against the Washington Wizards.
