NBA champ calls Lakers starter a 'master of nothing'

Lakers center Deandre Ayton is facing backlash from Channing Frye after suggesting he is being used like a role player. Frye dismissed Ayton’s complaints, highlighting his inconsistent play and the presence of elite offensive stars on the roster as reasons for his current limited involvement.

Los Angeles Lakers' center Deandre Ayton found himself in recent controversy, after he was heard saying that "they want to create a Clint Capela from him".

Whatever Ayton actually meant with that analogy, it seems that he's unhappy with his current role in the offense.

NBA champion from 2016 and a former Laker Channing Frye threw a ballistic rant on Ayton's remarks:

“Deandre Ayton is a master of nothing. In what world do I throw Deandre Ayton the basketball when I have f-ing Austin Reaves, LeBron, and Luka. Stop it," Frye started on the Hoop' Trippin' show.

"You’re going to get JJ Redick fired. Who is running those plays? When have you seen consistency from the man? You’ve never seen it. So him saying, ‘They want me to be Clint Capela.’ Yeah b-tch he’s averaging a double double the majority of his career,” Frye said.

Ayton joined the Lakers via buyout market this season, playing 52 games this season and starting 46 of them.

Center from the Bahamas is averaging 12.8 points and 8.4 rebounds on almost 28 minutes per game.
